Battlefield 2 Patch Released!
The highly anticipated first patch of Battlefield 2 has just been released by Electronic Arts on their ftp server. This patch fixes a lot of annoying and well known issues with the game, including
Fixed in issue that caused the Multiplayer Browser to become unresponsive.
Fixed an issue where some game controls were not available to be rebound within the Options menu.
Fixed an issue with increasing performance degradation on servers.
Fixed a problem with shader caching on client/host : after the first map in a rotation, shaders would be loaded on the fly during gameplay.

Brief opinion....since this patch was released only about two weeks after the game went gold. The one bug that I absolutely think should have been fixed prior to game launch is the problem with the multiplayer browser. It's almost unusable. It hangs for long periods causing you to miss your "window of opportunity" to get into an almost full ranked server. Oh well. Get the patch. Play the game.
EDIT July 15, 2005:
Ok, I should have added this edit a while ago as I still see many people getting to this page and downloading the patch. The patch has a memory leak! See my more recent post talking about the memory leak in the Battlefield 2 1.01 patch. So wait for the hotfix that EA is currently testing:

HOTFIX Candidate Now Being Tested!
Listen up soldiers, this update is to inform you that EA and DICE have a HOTFIX candidate for Battlefield 2 v1.01 in testing now. What does this mean? It means the fix for the memory leak found in v1.01 is being tested and will soon be available. While we're unable to specify an exact release date, rest assured, it's not far off and we will keep you updated through this web space.
